Film Session - Opening Scene (3rd January)

On the 3rd of January we thought it would be a good idea to start filming so we had time to plan other stages of the music video as well as film them. To start off we (Lewis and Daniel as Billy was unfortunately ill) set up the camera in Lewis' Bedroom. At this time Lewis was assigned to role of the main character and Daniel the role of the camera man. We aimed to try and capture conventions of a day-to-day life routine from waking up to getting dressed. Our aim for the first shot was to capture a close-up of the alarm which is an integral part of the music video as it signals the start of the soundtrack. This is why we have emphasized it through a close-up shot. Second shot was to simply shoot a mid shot of Lewis getting out of bed which signals the start of everyone's day-to-day routine. We managed to get a low angle close up shot of Lewis' feet as they get out of bed to allow editing techniques to be used to add continuity and fluency as well as quirkiness to the opening scene.
We added small quick shots such as his journey to the bathroom so the audience have a clearer understanding of what the narrative is so far and aren't confused that he has just jumped scenes, this should also add to the continuity of the music video.
For the last couple of shots me and Lewis decided to film other things that are involved in someones day-to-day routine whilst trying to incorporate repetitiveness as this is the main theme of the soundtrack. These were filmed in the bathroom of Lewis' house where we captured footage of Lewis getting into the shower (nothing to explicit just from the waist up so don't get no ideas) as well as Lewis shaving as we thought this is repetitive and we could manipulate this footage through edits to create quirkiness (plus he needed one anyway).
Other shots included close-ups of the main character (Lewis) putting on his clothes such as socks and tie which would allow us to edit through quick shots and be timed in with the soundtrack creating rhythmic editing.
To ensure that the audience wouldn't lose track of the main character's (Lewis) journey we decided to gather one last bit of footage showing Lewis leaving his house through an establishing shot so the audience know he was at home and leaving for work which is code from his Grey smart Suit.
